Laurie Halse Anderson Accepts the 2008 ALAN Award

The 2008 ALAN Award was presented to Laurie Halse Anderson at this year’s ALAN Breakfast.  In front of a record crowd, Anderson thanked the ALAN community and a particular high school English teacher who first challenged her to write.  Congratulations Laurie Halse Anderson on being this year’s ALAN Award recipient.  The ALAN community thanks you for your dedication to Young Adult Literature.

The ALAN Breakfast is one of the more widely attended events at the annual NCTE conference.  Teachers, librarians, authors, publishers and YA enthusiasts of all ages come to the breakfast to celebrate Young Adult Literature.

Other honored guests at this year’s breakfast included Jean McDermott, the Hipple Service Award recipient, and Sharon Creech, author of Love that Dog and Hate that Cat.
