Under the Radar (UTR) is a regular review column on the ALAN website that highlights the publications of smaller presses. It is co-authored by ALAN members who come from the fields of public schools, universities, and libraries. The current writers for the UTR column are cj bott, James Bucky Carter, Sean Kottke, Jon Ostenson, Daria Plum, and Jennifer Walsh.
The UTR team is currently engaged in an important project where we are examining not only books from smaller presses but an issue that often flies under the radar for many of us: bullying. You can read the introductory column here, where we interview the editors of a recently released book examining the bullying phenomenon in schools. Our current column looks specifically at literature from small presses focused on literature about young people on the autism spectrum.
